Dhaulagiri Trekking is an unforgettable exploration of the wild. This thrilling trail has been recently reopened to show the long-kept secrets of the region. Gandaki Gorge, the world’s deepest gorge and the view of fifteen 7000 meter peaks are some of the highlights.

Sometimes, trekking off the major path is immensely rewarding and adventures. And it increases your ability to cope with unexpected.

If you are planning the 22 days Dhaulagiri circuit trek, get ready for the wildest experience of your life. In Nepali, Dhaulagiri translates to “white mountain”. With the white shine of thick snow over the peak, the mountain looks astonishing.

Geographically, Dhaulagiri is a land having dramatic contrast. Trekking through the huge Himalayan Peak of Dhaulagiri (8th tallest mountain peaks of the world) is among the most challenging treks.

The trail takes you through the huge challenging mountain passes like French pass (5360 meters) and the Thapa Pass (5200 meters). Walk on an icy track at the altitude is almost like climbing the mountain.

So if you are an adventure freak, this Dhaulagiri trek is going to be an ultimate satisfaction.

Trek Outline

Dhaulagiri circuit trek begins from the antique city of Kathmandu. After some sightseeing in Kathmandu, we drive towards Beni. For the first few days, you walk through the cultivated fields that connect to the mountain villages.

During this time you walk over suspension bridges, along cobblestone paths, and through dense forests. The actual climb commences after Dobang- you ascend towards the Italian Base Camp.

After witnessing the perfect views of Dhaulagiri ranges, you make your way towards Dhaulagiri North Base Camp.

The trek continues along the Iced French and Thapa Passes. The path then winds to Yak Kharka. Here, you find yourself among the mountain people in their classic villages.

A long descent takes you to Marpha, a popular city in Mustang. Following the classical Annapurna trek, you head towards Tatopani.

Here, you are surrounded by the majestic peak of Machhapuchhare and Annapurna. Driving back to Pokhara and then to Kathmandu bring your trek to the end.

Important Notes

1, Dhaulagiri Trek is an arduous trek that passes through high alpine pastures. The serene and uninhabited valleys make the trek an “extreme route”.

You will also encounter some small and temporary settlements where the locals reside. You get to witness the extreme adaptation of the mountain people at such altitude.

With its extended high altitude route, the trek can only be attempted when it’s snow-free. The trek is possible in late September to December or even May and early June. Trekking in March or April can be unpredictable and dangerous.

If the rock falls while you trek, the consequences cannot be predicted.

With such a danger, the trek demands a very strong physique. You must have some previous experiences of trekking at higher altitude. Along with sound health, regular practice is also compulsory.

2, The tour price is not included extra night accommodation in Kathmandu in case of early arrival, late departure, and early return from the mountain (due to any reason) other than the scheduled itinerary.
