MARDI HIMAL TREK – 10 DAYS

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, we will greet you at the airport and accompany you to the Hotel.

We join you in the evening with a complimentary traditional Nepalese cultural dinner with your tour leader.

Overnight in Kathmandu

We tour UNESCO World Heritage Sites today. These sites highlight Nepal’s cultural and religious heritages.

Our first stop will be Kathmandu Durbar Square and then Swayambhunath Stupa, next is Pashupatinath Temple which is one of the most sacred pilgrimage sites for Hindus all over the world, followed by the Buddhist shrine of Boudhanath which is one of the largest stupas in the world.

Lastly, in the late afternoon we visit our office for a brief orientation on our trek.

Overnight in Kathmandu.

Early morning flight to Pokhara with your guide and meet your staff and then drive to Phedi. The route from Phedi is a good choice as very few trekkers start their trek from here.

The natural environment beauty becomes apparent as the bustling city is left behind and the environment is replaced with lush woods and thick natural groves.

The trek is at first slow-moving upwards, then moves up a bit steeper where we arrive after 1 hour to Dhampus (1,960m), then after enjoying an early lunch we move slightly uphill to Pothana (1950m) and to the ACAP / TIMS checkpoint where security will check passes, we then continue up again to Pitam Deurali (2100m).

Deurali is a small village from where we will see great views of Annapurna South, Mardi Himal and Machhapuchhare (Fishtail).

As we leave, there is a right turn in Deurali signposted “Forest Camp” the trail turns away from the main sanctuary trek route of Annapurna and continues through dense jungle on a quiet trail.

There is a section just over halfway where the trail drops steeply and then slowly gains height again, and then continues back onto the ridge and into Forest Camp(2,600m) – also known as Kokar as the locals call it, after about 4-hour trekking. 

After Lunch in Forest Camp, you will trek to Rest Camp (2,605m),

The trail leaves Rest Camp again in the jungle, after about one hour of trekking we leave the jungle and onto the open ridge where we are greeted with spectacular views of Machhapuchhre ahead, and Annapurna South to your left. 

The trail continues mainly on the grass along the ridge and you eventually arrive at High Camp where you spend the night. (3550m).

The lodges at High Camp are generally larger than the lodges at Forest Camp. The view of the Annapurna South from the camp is quite spectacular, along with the panorama of the Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) Mountains.

Today is going to be a fascinating one, the plan is to wake up early enough to view the sunrise, then after an early breakfast, walk up the ridge towards Mardi Himal Base Camp. 

There is a well-established trail through the grass that also occasionally contains a couple of steeper sections, before reaching to the upper viewpoint at the halfway stage. 

The views from the viewpoint are simply jaw-dropping. Stunning views of Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Baraha Sikhar, Machapuchare, Tent peak, and many other peaks will surely please you.

After spending some precious time there we will continue to Base Camp before heading back down to High Camp.

Today will be a long day but the views and photographic opportunities along the way will surely make the trek worthwhile.

Today we start the return leg and will take a different route down completing a circuit. From the Camp, there is a trail that goes down to Sidhing village, and we will walk this path instead of going back to Mardi Himal and Kokar. 

Sidhing is a traditional Nepalese village and is situated away from the busier tourist treks so trekkers will enjoy a quieter stay.

After breakfast, we continue descending to Lwang village, where we have the opportunity to explore around the Gurung community.

Today we will drive back to Pokhara, and from Pokhara, we will catch a domestic flight and return to Kathmandu hotel by airport transfer. 

We will finish the evening with a farewell dinner to celebrate our successful trek.

According to the flight schedule, transfer to the airport and fly home with beautiful memories of Nepal.
